At the Oct. 23 meeting of the Portsmouth City School Board, the Board unanimously approved an instructional calendar for the 2026-2027 school year. With this calendar, the First Day of School will be Monday, Aug. 24 and the school year will end Friday, June 11.

As a reminder, this calendar also includes the following:

• Three teacher workdays (Nov. 3, Jan. 22, and March 26)

• Five professional development days (Oct. 30, Nov. 2, Jan. 4, Jan. 5, and March 25)

• A two-week winter break (Dec. 21 through Jan. 1)

• A five-day spring break (March 29 through April 2)

• Observances for Veterans Day (Nov. 11), Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Jan. 18), and Presidents’

  Day (Feb. 15).
