Seven PPS schools have earned the 2024-2025 Purple Star Award. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children recognize schools as “Purple Star” honorees when they have demonstrated their commitment to meeting the needs of military-connected students and their families.

For the 2024-25 school year, the following schools earned their Purple Star:

• Brighton Elementary School

• Churchland High School

• Cradock Elementary School

• Douglass Park Elementary School

• Park View Elementary School

• Waters Middle School

• Waterview Elementary School

PPS now has 15 Purple Star Schools, and the goal is by next year to have all schools earn the designation so we can become a Purple Star division. To learn more about the Purple Star designation, visit the VDOE webpage.
