Principal's Message

PC with the Bee

Dear Brighton Bumblebee Families,

It is with extreme pleasure that I introduce myself to you as the principal of Brighton Elementary School. I am honored and humbled to have been selected to continue the great work that has been occurring at BES.

Brighton Elementary School is very near and dear to me. It was “just” 33 years ago that I walked the halls of the original building as a 5th-grade student. I am a proud product of Portsmouth Public Schools, graduating from The Historic I. C. Norcom High School. One of my fondest memories at Norcom was being a cheerleader for the Mighty Greyhounds. It is my goal now to become the greatest cheerleader and advocate for our BES students, faculty, staff, and community.

I have been fortunate enough to learn from many great educators throughout my professional journey. One such educator is my mentor Mr. Paul Wilson, Jr. Through his guidance, he has shaped me into a transformative administrator who leads with integrity and excellence.  My vision for Brighton is to continue to maintain a culture of academic excellence where our students can continue to grow and thrive.

There is an African Proverb that says “If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together.” Together, we can and will make a difference in the lives of each and every student that we serve at Brighton. I am excited and enthusiastic about the wonderful possibilities of moving forward. I hope you share this excitement with me. I am looking forward to joining the Bee Hive as I am grateful to “return home” to serve our school community.

Yours in Education,

Ms. Janeen Perry-Campbell
